Our classes start with a light mobility warm-up to increase circulation, warm up the muscles for activity and work our range of motion.
After the warm-up we do a some interval stations with equipment such as heavy bag, speed bag, wooden dummy, Agility Ladder, and weight training exersices!
After the interval stations we do the main section of the class which is instruction and practice. We do various drills for skills. Some techniques you will learn fairly quickly for self-preservation and others will take longer for self-perfection.
After our istruction and practice portion of the class we finish off with stretching for improving our Flexibility. specific stretches are used to assist with our martial arts training, correct posture, and be more resilient to injures. People often comment on how great they feel after a class!

"Gavin Edis has studied martial arts and Jeet Kune Do for decades. I must play catch up to properly recognize his hard work, suffering and sacrifice over many years. He speaks not of his accomplishments and is indeed long suffering. He is someone I whole heartedly endorse as person, a friend and professional instructor". - Jamen Zacharias

"I consider Gavin Edis a member of my extended family who has spent years of training in JKD and Kali. He is absolutely dedicated and committed to the growth of the arts, and most importantly to the expansion of his students’ broad knowledge of a solid and constructive martial arts. Despite various obstacles in life he has proven himself to be able to overcome whatever life has thrown at him and is setting an example in perseverance and hard work on the grounds of technical, philosophical and hand to hand combat. I am proud of his skills and dedication to the service of all people around him. I recommend people to see him for a continuous regular training."

"I have been working out in the gym for over 20 years and currently studying to be a PT. I work out in the gym every day which is where I met Gavin Edis who introduced me to the "Jeet Kune Do Boot Camp" at "Pure Balance Fitness". Gavin uses a revolutionary approach to combine martial arts (Jeet Kune Do) and physical exercise. It is very fun and I would certainly recommend this to anyone who wants to get fit and learn about self-defense. It's fun & for everybody at all levels."

"The training has been great! It's been really helpful in preparing me for my trek on the west coast trail. I like the weight training and martial arts drills. The weight training has helped me to get stronger while the martial arts has helped me to get more agile and flexible. It makes the workouts very exciting and fun!"

"I had the pleasure of attending a Jeet Kune Do class that was hosted by Gavin Edis. Gavin has created a very comfortable/safe training environment and he is very passionate about what he does. He is a very knowledgeable and capable instructor, so if you're looking for a martial arts class that focuses on self defense then I would definitely recommend getting in touch with Gavin! "

"As an academic & professional I was immediately drawn to the intellectual
& philosophical aspect of simplicity that Bruce Lee implemented into the
martial art of JKD. Previously trained in Tae Kwon Do, JKD opened up a
whole new reality to the completeness and definition of using the mind,
body & soul to train.
JKD is as much a martial art as it is lifestyle engaging. I recommend Gavin as an instructor to anyone who is thinking about training with a sincere person in an authentic environment of seriousness mixed with fun.
As a result, I like Gavin & JKD so much I am now entering the apprenticeship training program to become an instructor an Sifu myself and open my own training facility."
Jeet Kune Do Instructor
"I have trained in Jeet Kune Do for 19 years. I think Gavin Edis has a good understanding of formless combat and has an open state of mind. I have taught him a few things which he has picked up very well. It is a pleasure to know Gavin. All his students should be thankful of the opportunity they have to train with him."
"I have known Gavin for nearly a decade from long back when he taught classes at Okanagan Martial Arts Academy. It is great he has worked so hard to bring Jeet Kune Do back to the Okanagan. Gavin's dedication to getting his personal trainer certification has helped him become an even greater teacher and his biggest gift to JKD is ingenuity. He is providing the Okanagan people with serious life skills as well as great skills in self defense. I highly recommend that anyone who is interested in martial arts and fitness seek out Gavin."

"I have known Gavin for many years. I started my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey with his teaching. I really liked the attention to detail and his patience with me as I struggled learning something new. Having Gavin as my own student in my Fitness classes I see how serious he is about his own health as well as others. Knowing Gavin's back ground in Martial Arts and Fitness I would not hesitate recommending or referring people to him."
